LPL Financial provides an integrated platform of technology, brokerage and investment advisory services to entrepreneurial financial advisors. To increase its customer base and strengthen its leadership position, LPL was looking for an innovative way to help its sales staff recruit financial advisors.

Our solution: Bring the story to life on an iPad app.

Comprehensive service offerings can be difficult to convey in traditional vehicles—brochures don’t capture their breadth or depth, and PowerPoint presentations force the discussion into an inflexible linear narrative. Neither conveys the energy or innovation of a leader. We came up with a better way—create an iPad app that would allow LPL sales staff to show visually how LPL Financial services work so that prospects could see first-hand how these services work and how they would benefit them.

Make the tool fit the sales process.

Through meetings with LPL Financial Marketing staff, we learned how they recruited new advisors—what went into a successful pitch, the steps they followed, and how they responded to questions. To assure the new app would meet their needs, we developed a user interface that would make it easy for sales staff to demonstrate LPL services and give them the flexibility they needed to respond on the fly to interests and questions of each prospect. To assure a prospects would be engaged and excited, we designed a rich graphic experience. Once approved by LPL, our India technology team quickly and cost-effectively developed the app on HTML5, CSS and Jquery Mobile.

The new iPad app was tested and immediately embraced by initial users with an 80% adoption rate within six months of launch. Rolled out to the entire sales staff, it’s proven an integral part of LPL Financial’s recruitment strategy.
